This history of hot rodding is a long and fascinating one. There is an old saying in hot rodding, and that is that the car you have recently bought isn t truly yours until you have messed with it. And from its birth in the flats at Muroc pre-WWII to a burgeoning speed industry, young enthusiasts and entrepreneurs did what people do best with any form of new technology, they messed with it. Make it faster, make it cooler, or simply make it better than the next guy. In Pat Ganahl s Hot Rod Gallery, the acclaimed author gathers his finest images to tell the story of the history of hot rodding from the beginning to 1960 through fascinating and rarely seen photos. From Muroc and early Gow Jobs, to the first drag strips, to the first speed shops and manufacturers, to the first car shows, Ganahl covers it all. Follow the transition from the dry lakes to the street to the first drag strips. Check out the beginnings of the show circuit, from the first SCTA shows and the Oakland Roadster
Pat Ganahl is the author of several CarTech books, including definitive works on Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and Von Dutch. He is a life-long hot rodder and has been the editor of Rod & Custom and a regular contributor for The Rodder's Journal, Street Rodder and Hot Rod magazines. Pat is recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on traditional hot rods and custom cars.

What can I say, we race a NASCAR Street Stock bomber and we were a solid "B" main car, We were untouchable in the "B" Mains but we just couldn't make the transitition to the "A" Main. Expect to invest in a jet kit, accelerator pump kit, and some drilling if you put a double pumper on your street car.. I've learned that it is likely to take a fair amount of work to get a double pumper to run smoothly, get decent gas mileage, and produce power on the street. The photos are a huge attraction but I live for explanations and the book has many. Until I boned up on some Holley tuning tips in this book, now we are an "A" Main runner weekly, we've made it as far up as a fourth place finish! Now that we have the carb under control we are fine tuning our suspension for our new found power and we are improving weekly! I HIGHLY recomend this book for ALL racers and car enthusiasts alike!. We see the Pasadena Roadster Club of 1947 on their first Reliability Run.
We see excellent (indeed, legend
